Reading Target Indicators

Listed below is a two year comparison of indicator trends as compared to the previous year. An average gain is calculated between two years to show growth or decline within an individual standard. It should be noted that any time an indicator drops below 60% a SMART Goal will be developed for that indicator as well as an action plan that address's new instructional strategies specific for the indicator below 60%. It is our goal to ensure that every standard reaches 80% proficiency.  

 


READING GRADE EIGHT TARGET INDICATORS

(2009 - 2010) R.8.1.4.14 Avg = 56 ;  Identifies the author's position in a persuasive text and describes techniques the author uses to support that position (e.g., bandwagon approach, glittering generalities, testimonials, citing statistics, other techniques that appeal to reason or emotion).

(2010 - 2011) R.8.1.4.14 Avg = 78

Gain = +32 


(2009 - 20010) R.8.1.4.2 Avg = 64 ; Understands the purpose of text features (e.g., title, graphs/charts and maps, table of contents, pictures/ illustrations, boldface type, italics, glossary, index, headings, subheadings, topic and summary sentences, captions, sidebars, underlining, numbered or bulleted lists) and uses such features to locate information in and to gain meaning from appropriate-level texts.
